Preparation

The education I received at SJNRCS prepared me for a life of learning... The interest and care of my teachers fostered a love of learning which I still have today. I feel the teachers are focused on educating every student and helping them become the best they can be.

St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School

If you pay state taxes in Georgia, you can change the life of a St. John Neumann student in need and receive a generous tax benefit. GRACE assists more than 1,000 students a year which ranks it third among the 29 student scholarship organizations in Georgia. This demonstrates the power of Georgia Catholics when they join together.

The GRACE Scholars program was created to help qualifying families afford a quality Catholic education while at the same time provide donors with an opportunity to redirect their tax dollars towards Catholic school scholarships.

As a Georgia taxpayer, you can receive a 100% dollar for dollar tax credit against your Georgia taxes which means that you actually can lower the amount you owe to the State by the amount of your donation to GRACE Scholars.

You can designate St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School as the beneficiary of your GRACE donation. 100% of your donation will be used for tuition assistance for our very own families.

New IRS ruling (June 2019): The previous ruling stated that a donation used as a tax credit on a state return could not be claimed as a charitable contribution on the federal return. However, the new ruling allows individual taxpayers who itemize deductions to treat their donation to GRACE on their federal return as payment of state or local taxes subject to the $10,000 SALT (state and local tax) cap. Donate $1,000 to GRACE and you lower your state of Georgia tax liability by $1,000 (100% of your donation) and if you itemize on your federal return you can treat the $1,000 donation as state and local income tax payments which are deductible up to the $10,000 cap.

How can I make a donation to GRACE Scholars to benefit SJNRCS students?

  • Pre-register for your 2021 GRACE Scholars Tax Credit.
  • Once registered, watch for a tax credit approval letter in the mail from the Department of Revenue.
  • The letter gives your approval date and the amount of your tax credit. Keep the letter in your tax records. The letter contains a certificate number for your tax credit. You will need to enter the certificate number on your tax return and attach the approval letter to your tax return if you are submitting your return on paper.
  • Complete contribution during the 60-day window. The window starts on the date of the approval letter.
