Volunteer Opportunities

The SJNRCS Home and School Association and the School Advisory Sub-Committees offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities. While classroom help is often needed, we realize this is not always practical for all families. There are many other ways you can volunteer your time, whether it be administrative, event planning, providing translation services, or putting together mailers. You may even have a special skill or job that you think would help our school in marketing, promotions, technology, or community fundraising. No gift of time or talent is too small.

Our HSA and Advisory sub-committees handle many events throughout the year. It takes a lot of team work and time to be a success, but most importantly, it takes helping hands. The more people that use their gifts and skills, the more fun it is for everyone. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the activities below, please contact a Home and School Representative.

Student Centered Events

Fall Festival for WebsiteMany parents take a day off from work just to help with these fun events!

Fall Festival: Help coordinate or run the Fall Festival. Scheduled in late October, we convert the SJN gym into a small carnival complete with games, face painting, and our famous haunted house created by a real set designer. Parents and eighth grade students wear costumes. Eighth graders escort their Kindergarten buddies through the festival. The luncheon for all of the Fall Festival volunteers is planned and served by this committee. ♥

Neulympics:
Two days are set aside in May for students to have a day of fun and games. Parent volunteers, in conjunction with the P.E. teachers, coordinate and run the varied contests and prepare and serve a grilled lunch for students. ♥

Lenten Retreats: Kindergarten through Eighth graders reserve one regular school day during the Lenten season and are given time for quiet reflection, peer interaction, and self-evaluation.  During the retreat each grade level expands on an essential and specific principle of the Catholic faith. Parent volunteers are paramount in the successful coordination and execution of the retreat.  Volunteers are needed to help coordinate the event, be group leaders, activity leaders, lunch service helpers, and much more.  Each year this promises to be memorable and rewarding for students, as well as, parents.  ♥
